To extend their services in the South Roanoke area of the City, Member One elected to construct their first new standalone branch in well over a decade. The site, which formerly housed a local restaurant, was long and shallow in shape which lead to an inventive use of the property. The building was placed at the far end of the site and uniquely angled to increase its visibility from either direction when approaching on the adjacent road. The green backdrop provided by the hill beyond serves as a frame on the site and allows the building’s blue glass and aluminum panels to shine on full display. 

The remote ATM self-service drive-through, which sits at the opposite end of the property, is a modern addition to Member One’s retail services. This technology allows for full utilization of the site which then provides extended parking for both members and staff. 

The interior of the building is designed to maximize line of sight and open the space to welcome all visitors. Upon entering, a member is greeted at the centrally located coffee bar, by a staff member at one of the four front offices, or, by a friendly face at the teller bar. The incorporation of the teller bar, versus a traditional attached teller line, is a new direction to allow all staff to move easily and freely through the space. The lobby itself is oversized to allow for casual conversation and movement throughout with multi-use soft seating.
