306 Shop Building

Location: Roanoke, VA
Project Type: Renovation, Adaptive Reuse
Project Size:
8,800 sq. ft.

Built in 1932, this former repair shop was purchased as expansion space for an adjacent business. IDG led the design of the interior and exterior renovation with a goal to preserve the architectural details of the historic building. The interior renovations included offices, ADA restrooms, open office space, break areas, a server room, and a new rear exit on the main level. A new handicap accessible entrance vestibule with more open office space and an ADA restroom was added at the basement level. All mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were upgraded during the renovation. Exterior upgrades include new windows within the existing historic frames, an exit stair, new roof, and a total renovation of all landscaping and parking surfaces.
