Having purchased one of the most visible and iconic circa l900 buildings in downtown Roanoke for a new corporate headquarters, Freedom First Credit Union tasked Interactive Design Group with upgrading the upper floor for their executive operations. As this floor is the corporation's main reception and greeting area, IDG paid particular attention to designing a warm and welcoming environment while incorporating needed security and safety measures. The space beautifully celebrates the l900's heavy timber/industrial construction and the downtown views by removing some interior walls and adding full glass security doors. Replacing all the lighting with new uplight/downlight fixtures improves the previously dim spaces and highlights the beautiful timber ceilings. Acoustic light fixtures installed in the conference rooms and reception areas provide an interesting feature and necessary acoustic dampening for the open ceilings in these critical spaces.
